7A "Basic" Tube Preamplifier Features, Specs, Shopping Cart Below:

Welcome to SAS Audio Labs. I am really excited about the 7A kit as it is not your typical run of the mill kits. The power supply uses polypropylene capacitors and the output capacitors includes a special order type that is not sold to the general public. (Also check out "The Lab" forum on Audio Circle.)

To save you big money and yet satisfy that DIY urge, I have assembled and tested the circuit board, but left the chassis/parts assembly to you. (One must be knowledgeable in soldering and should be able to read a schematic.) This concept has several advantages.

First high frequency response consistency (low stray capacitance) is much better than hardwiring. Second, I am able to test the finished electronics. Third, those not as experienced in electronics can still perform basic soldering and the physical labor, thus reducing costs. Fourth, not only does the 7A kit satisfy your DIY cravings, but allows you to customize the cosmetics. Fifth, the sonics are "to die for".

The 7A kit has 3 input jack ground leads but fewer inputs or up to five inputs can be used. It has one output but another may be added.

NOTE: Always power on a preamplifier before the amplifier. Always turn off the power amplifier before turning off a preamplifier.

One may purchase the basic kit, which includes:

• solder (for jacks, switches etc)
• tube, two fuses
• nylon standoffs for mounting the board on the chassis of your choosing (standoffs will snaplock into a .059-.063 thick, 3/16" diameter chassis hole. Holes are already in the circuit board.).
